Yuet Yean Teo

Yuet Yean Teo was born in Johor, Malaysia and began her art education at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Art in Singapore. She went on to secure a place on the BA Fine Art course at the prestigious Camberwell College of Art in London and MA in Printmaking at Buckinghamshire New University where she developed a body of work around the idea of shadow and light and its effects on transforming the ordinary and everyday interactions between city dwellers.

Yean work explores the integration of traditional Chinese Painting ‘freehand style’, also known as ‘literati painting’, with a western oil painting style. She is combining her Chinese Painting skills with a more painterly approach to contemporary printmaking. Yean employs inter-disciplinary skills to express her unique cross-cultural perspective. Her work is concerned with transmutation of technique, subject matter, self and outside influences.
