Felicity Swan

Drawing and painting are of equal significance in my practice, and my approach is intuitive.  There is always tension between swathes of colour and drawn line in the search for clarity.  As my work hovers between the abstract and figurative, an added mark or swish of colour can take the work to a different place.  This helps me resist the pressure of pushing the painting to become a picture too soon.

Originally from New Zealand, I live in Teddington, SW London.  I exhibit mainly in the UK and in Auckland.  In addition to RAG, I am a member of Kingston Artists’ Open Studios (KAOS), Richmond Art House open studios and Tenfold Art Collective.  Recently I have been exploring collaborations with other artists, including storytelling.
